The European
market for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
(UAVs) or Unmanned Aerial Systems
(UAS) has grown in recent years. More
reliable control systems and sensors
have placed UAVs at the centre of
defence procurement with France, Germany,
Italy, Spain and the UK investing
in the systems. Most operational UAV
systems have, however, either been
sourced off-the-shelf from American
manufacturers or are modified versions
of Israeli designs.
Military UAV
roles include ISR, communications
relay, transport, strike, battle damage
assessment, counter-improvised explosive
device and electronic, communications
and signals intelligence. Civilian
applications for UAVs include law
enforcement surveillance, traffic
control tasks, aerial photography,
scientific research, environmental
monitoring, energy and electrical
facility monitoring and coast guard
support.
This illustrated,
independently-researched PDF report
provides a detailed overview of the
military and civilian UAV market within
Europe, detailing major projects and
procurement on a country-by-country
basis. A total of 19 countries are
specifically profiled and assessed,
focussing on national armed forces
requirements, civilian programmes,
in-service UAVs, sensors and other
payloads, programmes, main manufacturers
and their main suppliers. More than
170 UAVs are featured with specifications
detailed through out. Addresses, telephone
numbers and website links are provided
for more than 190 UAV suppliers and
sub-contractors mentioned in the report.
